Bucks Beautiful Plants 300,000 Daffodil Bulbs along Delaware Canal

On November 9, 2011, 300,000 Daffodil Bulbs were planted along the Delaware Canal for the Bucks Beautiful Bulbs for Bucks program with an additional 10,000 Daffodil Bulbs planted along the Route 611 Bypass. The planting of the bulbs was generously donated by Gale Nurseries, Inc, Gwynedd. The Bulbs for Bucks Program was the inspiration of Bucks Beautiful Board member Chuck Gale, to beautify Bucks County at key locations with the first splendor of spring; blooming daffodils!

The Canal planting was the second phase for the Bulbs for Bucks program known as; Color on the Canal; with Daffodil Bulbs being planted at key locations from Bristol to Riegelsville, Bucks County. The first phase Bulbs along the Bypass was completed in the fall of 2010, when 30,000 Daffodil Bulbs were planted along the Rt. 611 Bypass. The final goal is to plant 1 million Daffodil Bulbs in Bucks County!

Chuck Gale stated “I like the idea of planting daffodils because the bulbs multiply each year, and the project is long-lasting for future generations to enjoy what we are doing now! To my knowledge, this is the largest bulb planting project in the state of Pennsylvania.”

Peter Fernandez, Carter van Dyke & Associates and Bucks Beautiful President states, “Our hope is to make Bucks County a destination point to view the bulbs and possibly create a Bulb Festival Weekend.”

Bucks Beautiful is seeking donations from the public to help realize this final goal. If you are interested in donating to the Bulbs for Bucks program, call 215-348-3913 x 114.
