A wide variety of garden categories may be entered in three seasonal
competitions. Garden competition applications are due July 1st for
summer, and September 1st for fall. A garden may be entered in two
competitions per season.
All gardens are judged by a group of experts. Judges are volunteers who
are established gardeners or professionals in the region. Bucks Beautiful
judges visit each garden site in teams, giving his/her independent opinion
in both numerical criteria and written comments, providing helpful suggestions.
Garden Categories Judged
•
Business Garden: A garden at a business establishment.
•
Community Garden: A garden within a public or semi-public area that is
installed by a host sponsor to include mostly flowers.
•
Children’s Garden: An individual or community garden primarily gardened
by school
age children, usually under some adult supervision.
•
Individual Garden: A garden, which is located at a residential property.
Types of Gardens Judged
•
Container Gardens: Flowers and or plants in a container.
•
Flower Gardens: A garden containing mostly flowers.
•
Vegetable Gardens: A garden containing mostly vegetables.
•
Water Gardens: A contained water pond with plant material.
•
Combination Flower/Vegetable Gardens: A garden combining flowers and vegetables.
